for awhile i've been toying with the idea of a name change for this ol' blog. something that wasn't corny or lame and still reflected how corny and lame i actually am. then through the ridicule of a co worker, i have become enlightened.
It seems as though I'm the type of person who likes to bite off more than I can chew. This is characteristic reveals itself in so many areas of my life, from work to play, to social to everywhere. And more than one friend has pointed this out to me. I have this theory that if someone else has done it, then why can't I? hmmmm. can you see where this is going? Here are a couple examples to entertain you. If you know me personally then you are already chuckling to yourself, you've seen the devastation i can cause.
5 bikes. all in various orders of repair.
3 motorcycles. 1 mx, 2 road bikes. one is mine, the other a friends..
"sure I can repair the carbs and fix the seat latch".... meanwhile mine is in a
thousand pieces on the floor in the basement.
I 've been playing guitar for 25 years, i still suck, so what do I do, i start collecting
instruments..and actually believe i can learn to play them all!
-vantage 6 string guitar. (my first, sounds better everyday, and i love it).
-a stand up bass
-a banjo
-a piano
-a ukulele
I will learn them all.
Speaking of instruments, i have a rad 2nd job at the world famous Panther Case Company building guitar cases. And soon i will be building guitars at the world famous Sparrow Guitar Company. In the meantime i've taken it upon myself to try building some guitars of my own. the first was a dobro style resonator guitar, made with an old 3/4 classical. The action is set real high so i can play slide. this was a huge embarrassing failure.
The next is an Appalachian dulcimer. They are easy instruments, three strings, open tuning. It was going easy until i decided to turn the non-hollow body Appalachian dulcimer into a hollow body Appalachian dulcimer. It's now sitting in a pile beside the other guitar project that i have just recently embarked on, an oil can guitar. Which i gotta admit is the one i'm most excited about. And will be finished ....whatevah...Did i mention that these projects are not the progressive pursuits of a guy with too much time on his hands? these are all happening simultaneously! hahahahahahahaha......sighhhhh...
I have a vw van that blew a motor all to hell so i gave it to a friend to fix up. It's coming back as a deisel powered brute. This is really his project, but the fact is that i'm getting it back soon and it's about %80 percent done. However, i've recently really been thinking ab getting an old car. i've began the search and have came across two options, a 67 lincoln continental, and a 65 plymouth valient. I've found both these cars for a cheap income tax return price and they are local. I'm pretty sure i'll have one of them soon....both need work, but i don't care. As well I need to get my current ride working properly. It drives fine but needs some work so i can sell it . the funny thing is, i'm too lazy to fix it..
Looking back at this, i can see why my buddy at work (day job-equipment operator) calls me "project"... i'm not bragging, i'm actually a bit embarassed by all this. It's not like i'm actually capable of pulling this all off. I just think i can.
In the meantime, i have found a new name that I can build around which will reflect upon you all some of my silliness.
maybe this blog should be called a.d.d.o.c.d.a.d.h.d........
